Championing early childhood education and development in Zimbabwe is a project initiated by Child Protection Society on behalf of Zimbabwe Network of Early Childhood Development Actors (ZINECDA). The project seeks to establish a network of ECDE actors in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe currently does not have a network that supports the development of ECDE in the country.

This has resulted in fragmented approaches in ECDE and there is a knowledge gap in which ECDE actors do not even know who is working where and implementing what sort of program in the country. This network will act as a link between grassroots organizations working in ECDE, national government, donors and other agencies interested in the early development and learning of children in Zimbabwe.

The network will operate in all the 10 provinces of Zimbabwe through representation by organizations already working on ECDE in those regions.  The project will start by carrying out a nationwide baseline survey on current ECDE actors and conduct provincial sensitization workshops on the establishment of the network and then move on to establishing 10 chapters of ECDE networks in the 10 provinces.

The project will also build capacity of the network members which are effectively engaged in ECDE to advocate for inclusion of marginalized children such as the visually impaired, physically challenged and deaf children in ECDE, take a leading role in influencing policies, guidelines and legislations that concern the rights and development of young children.
