OSF-SA has launched its inaugural photography competition which seeks to find photographs that capture the essence of the work supported by OSF-SA

OSF-SA has launched its inaugural photography competition which seeks to find photographs that capture the essence of the work supported by OSF-SA, its grantees and partner organisations whilst also providing a platform to showcase emerging young photographers in South Africa.
 
 
Who?
The contest is open to photographers aged under 35 years old who are ordinarily domiciled and based in South Africa and who are nationals of any African country.
 
The competition will focus on finding new South African talent and to supporting a space that allows emerging, young and previously disadvantaged photographers to share their perspectives.
 
What?
Entries should comprise of a portfolio of five images which engage with the work done in each of These are: 
  1. Advancing Civil Society and Promoting Socioeconomic Rights
  2. Promoting Public and Private-Sector Accountability
  3. Protecting the Free Flow of Information and Freedom of Expression
  4. Strengthening Justice and Equality
  5. Research and Advocacy (Extractives and Social Auditing)
 
When?
The entry period is now open and will close on 26 February 2016 at 17:00.
 
Awards and prizes
There will be a total of eleven cash prizes – a grand prize of R18000, five prizes of R4000 each, and runner-up prizes of R2500 each.
 
Photographs will be judged by a selection panel made up of staff from OSF-SA and the Open Society’s Documentary Photography Project, as well as two renowned South African photographers.
