Conselho de Igrejas Cristãs de Angola (CICA)

The Angolan Council of Christian Churches (CICA) is an ecumenical umbrella organization of Christian Churches which was established in 1977. Currently it includes 20 churches and two faith-based institutions working with national and international organizations in the pursuit of spiritual well-being and social development of Angola. It is based in Luanda and it is represented countrywide by acting structures through Ecumenical Cooperation Committees. It has 3 centers for vocational technical training, in Luanda, Benguela and Huambo.

Over the years, the council has undertaken various projects around peacebuilding and conflict resolution, Sustainable Community Development, Gender and human rights, citizen participation hip with the aims to promote moral, justice and ethical values in society. As part of its efforts to bring about change in the country, in 2010 CICA initiated a good governance and social monitoring program, working alongside with member churches, which aims at reducing poverty and asymmetries between the rural areas and the cities while developing a better processes to serve communities to contribute to a fairer management of public revenues in various localities of Angola seeking to reduce poverty.
